This delicious Christmas favorite will bring back memories from the old country.

Prep Time: 10 min (not including thaw time)
Bake Time: 25-30 min

  1. 1 loaf Rhodes Bread Dough thawed and risen
    1/2 cup raisins
    1/4 candied cherries, cut
    1/2 cup almonds, chopped if desired
    1/2 teaspoon cardamom, ground or crushed

    Vanilla Frosting
    1 cup powdered sugar, sifted
    1 tablespoon butter or margarine, softened
    1/2 vanilla or almond extract
    3 teaspoons milk
    Combine ingredients and mix until smooth. More milk may be added to thin if needed.


Flatten dough to 1/2 inch thickness. Sprinkle with raisens, cherries, almonds and cardamom, press into dough. Divide in half, shape into balls. Place in greased round cake pans or on a cookie sheet. Cover with sprayed plastic wrap. Let rise in warm place until double in size,(about 1 to 1 1/2 hours). Remove wrap, and bake at 350°F for 25 to 30 minutes. Frost warm loaves with vanilla frosting. Decorate with candied cherries and almonds.
