These delicious apple pie treats are shaped like egg rolls. How fun is that!

Ingredients

  1. 8 Rhodes Yeast Dinner Rolls, thawed to room temperature
  2. 2 cups peeled, chopped apples
  3. 2 tablespoons butter, melted
  4. 1/4 cup brown sugar
  5. 1/2 teaspoon cinnamon
  6. 1/4 teaspoon nutmeg
  7. 1/4 teaspoon 5 spice blend
  8. 1/3 cup chopped pecans
  9. 1 egg
  10. cinnamon sugar or 5 spice sugar (1/4 cup sugar mixed with 1 teaspoon cinnamon or 5 spice)
  11. vanilla ice cream, if desired
  12. Glaze:
  13. 1/2 cup powdered sugar
  14. 1 tablespoon milk
  15. 2 teaspoons butter, melted
  16. 1/4 teaspoon vanilla

Instructions

Spray counter lightly with non-stick cooking spray. Combine rolls and roll into a 14 inch circle. Cover with plastic and let rest.

Combine apples and butter, coating the apples well and set aside. Combine brown sugar, cinnamon, nutmeg and 5 spice. Remove wrap from dough. Sprinkle the brown sugar mixture over the dough circle. Sprinkle with pecans. Cut the dough circle into 8 equal pie shaped pieces.

Divide apples evenly placing a mound of apples on the wide end of each pie shape. Fold the wide end points around the apples and roll the apple bundle down to the point. Repeat with rest of slices.

Place each apple bundle on a sprayed baking sheet. Make sure narrow end is placed on bottom of pan. Mix egg with 1 teaspoon water and brush over each bundle. Sprinkle with cinnamon or 5 spice sugar. Bake at 350°F 12-15 minutes.

Mix glaze ingredients completely. Remove from oven and brush with glaze while warm. Serve with ice cream if desired.
