A quick, easy and beautiful dessert idea.

  1. 1 Loaf Rhodes Bread Dough or 12 Rhodes White Yeast Rolls, thawed to room temperature
  2. 21 oz can apple pie filling
  3. 1/2 cup chopped nuts
  4. Icing:
  5. 1 cup powdered sugar
  6. 1 tablespoon butter, melted
  7. 1/2 teaspoon vanilla
  8. 2-3 tablespoons milk


Spray counter lightly with cooking spray. Roll loaf or combined rolls into a 12 x 16 inch rectangle. Cover with plastic wrap and let rest 10-15 minutes. Remove wrap from dough.

Spread pie filling and nuts lengthwise in a 4 inch strip down center of dough. Make cuts 1 inch apart on long sides of dough to within 1/2 inch of filling. Begin braid by folding top and bottom strips toward filling. Then braid strips left over right, right over left. Finish by pulling last strip over and tucking under braid. Lift braid with both hands and place on a large sprayed baking sheet.

Cover with sprayed plastic wrap and let rise 30 minutes. Remove wrap and bake at 350°F 25-30 minutes or until golden brown. Combine icing ingredients and mix well. Cool slightly and drizzle with icing. Slice to serve.
