Italian Grilled Cheese

A delicious variation on a traditional Grilled Cheese!

Skill: Beginning Prep Time: 20 Bake Time: 5-15 Servings: 5 or 6


1 Loaf Rhodes White or Wheat Bread, baked following package instructions and cooled
1/2 cup ricotta cheese
1 teaspoon crushed garlic
2 tablespoons chopped fresh basil
1/2 teaspoon oregano
1/2 cup grated fresh parmesan cheese
3 cups grated mozzarella cheese
1/4 cup butter, softened


Slice the loaf into 1/2 to 3/4 inch slices. Combine all the ingredients except the butter. Divide the filling equally on half of the bread slices. Top with remaining slices.

Spread butter on the outside top slice of each sandwich. Place sandwich, buttered side down in frying pan heated to medium heat. Butter remaining side. Grill on each side until golden brown.
