Make homemade swirl hamburger buns with Rhodes Rolls!

Did you know that May is National Burger Month? All month long over at Tried and Tasty I have been focused on all things burgers!

At the beginning of the month I tagged teamed what we called 'burger week' with Jesseca from One Sweet Appetite. The week started off with my Queso Blanco Cinco de Mayo Burger, then my Mouth Watering Tasty Reuben Burger, followed by the wildly popular Guacamole Bacon Burger, a delicious Sautéed Mushroom & Swiss Burger with Caramelized Onions and finally my Homemade Black Bean Veggie Burger!

You'll have to check out Jesseca's lineup as well, she had some pretty great burgers for the week too!  But, what's a burger without a bun? That's where Rhodes comes in to play! Did you know you can make hamburger buns at home using Rhodes products?

To kick of National Burger Month I went a little crazy with my hamburger bun creations. It all began with my Quick & Easy Cheater Hamburger Buns, Then my Whole Wheat Kaiser Hamburger Buns, and then Easy Poppyseed Kaiser Hamburger Buns: ALL of which are made using Rhodes Rolls! Love that all of the hard work of the bread making is done for you, all you have to do is shape 'em and bake 'em! TODAY's bun is a fun 'twist' {pun intended} on the kaiser, that brings together the white roll and the cracked wheat roll. Let's get started!

Hamburger Buns with Rhodes Rolls, so easy

So what is a kaiser anyway? Here’s the skinny: “a round, soft bread roll with a crisp crust, made by folding the corners of a square of dough into the center, resulting in a pinwheel shape when baked.” I am a huge fan of pretty food. These rolls end up with the prettiest design when baked up! Best part about it? They are easier than you think to make! Just watch!

All you have to do is thaw your rolls (you'll want to do half white & half cracked wheat), but make sure they are still cold. Don’t thaw them too much. Depending on the size of rolls you want, you will either want to use one Texas roll, or combine 2-4 regular sized rolls.

Place on a large sprayed baking sheet or Silpat lined. If desired, brush with egg and sprinkle with sesame seeds. Bake at 350°F 10-15 minutes (longer if you use more rolls).

Once your rolls have cooled, slice them in half with a bread knife and you’re ready to assemble your favorite burger. Maybe give my Swiss Turkey Burger a try - it's DELICIOUS!
