Make dinner or lunch a little "sweeter" with Rhodes Sweet Knots! Click here to see the full article
I needed a fun to treat to send down to a friend that was returning late in the afternoon from a pretty tiring business trip. I thought it would be a nice surprise to have something waiting for her to make dinner a little easier. I love to serve a roll that’s just a little bit sweet. There is something about the flavor of melting butter on a roll that’s just a tad sweet…mmmmm!!!!
12 Rhodes Texas or Dinner Rolls, thawed to room temperature
½ cup butter, melted
½ cup sugar
Roll each roll into a 9 inch rope.
Place melted butter in a bowl and pour sugar into a separate bowl.
Coat the rolls in butter and then the sugar.
Tie the roll into a knot and place in a muffin tin sprayed with non-stick cooking spray. Repeat with each roll. Cover with plastic wrap that is also sprayed with non-stick cooking spray.
(My muffin tin is pretty beat up. I had a really nice heavy, coated pan but gave it to my newly married daughter…isn’t that what moms do? Sacrifice for our children.)
Let the rolls rise until double in size. Remove wrap and bake at 350 F. for 10-15 minutes or until deep golden brown
Remove from pan promptly. (Seriously folks, be really careful when removing these rolls. The sugar is hot and we all know about hot sugar on skin!)
I had my daughter run the rolls down to my friend and promptly got a call about how YUMMY they were. She had already had one. I asked if she would please take a picture of her family eating them just so I could post it with the blog. Her husband was NOT hip to that idea. Her youngest son was... She sent me this cute picture of Cam enjoying a roll.
She texted me this morning telling me that he loved them so much he asked if he could take one to his friend and the friend’s mom who was driving them to soccer. The mom called to tell her how delicious they were. So it’s safe to say they are a hit with soccer players and soccer moms alike!
