It seems to take me back to my old "play dough" days! I love to create new foods and recipes. It's easy to be creative when Rhodes does all of the work for you. While trying to think of a fun, new way to celebrate St. Patty’s Day, I came up with this idea for Braided Shamrock Bread. This is a fun, festive bread that you could serve with your Corned Beef & Cabbage dinner on St. Patty's Day.
It all Starts by thawing 8 Rhodes Texas Sized Rolls and allow them to come to room temperature. Spray the counter top with non-stick spray. Roll each of the 8 Texas Rolls into a smooth, 12” long rope. With 2 of the ropes, lightly press the ends together to form a “V”, and lightly pinch the ends together as shown above. The rope on your left should be on the top. Take the rope on your right, bend it and place it on top the rope on the left, about 2” up from where the 2 ropes touch. Pinch it lightly just to make sure it will hold. With the rope on the left, bend it and go over the right curved rope and then underneath. Pinch lightly to secure. You will have a little "heart" shape. Repeat with the other 6 ropes to make 3 more “heart” shapes. Then place them close together (touching) like a “4-leaf clover” on a parchment lined baking sheet that has been sprayed with non-stick spray. Brush all over the top and sides with an egg wash made of 1 beaten egg + 1 tablespoon water. Allow to rise in a warm place for about 30 minutes. Bake in a pre-heated 375° oven for 12-13 minutes or until golden. To avoid over-browning, cover with foil and continue to bake for about 5-7 minutes longer until done. Pull apart to serve.
