Thanksgiving is one of my favorite holidays. Although I'm thankful every day for so many blessings, I especially love this time to reflect on so many things I'm grateful for. Additionally, the food around the Thanksgiving holiday is one of my favorites. Stuffing is one of those things I think you like or you don't. I am on the side of the fence that loves it. I come from a family of great cooks and my grandmother makes a great stuffing, along with my mom and aunts. After this recipe, I'm happy to add myself right along with them. This Savory Sausage Stuffing is phenomenal! Not only does Rhodes make it easy, it's packed with flavor to pair perfectly with your turkey, gravy, mashed potatoes and more! You'll need the traditional stuffing ingredients. Carrots, mushrooms, onion, and celery. Peel and grate your carrots, slice your fresh mushrooms, chop your onion and celery. Set aside while you prepare the rest of the dish. On your stovetop, brown your sausage over medium heat until no longer pink. If you've got lots of excess grease and fat, you'll want to drain that off. To your hot pan, add the onion, celery, mushrooms and carrots. Cook an additional 5 minutes until everything is nice and tender. You'll want to have baked your Rhodes loaf ahead of time. Cut the baked and cooled loaf into 1" cubes. They don't have to be perfect, you just want them mostly uniform. Place cubed bread in a large bowl. Add sausage mixture to bread cubes and toss to mix. Add toasted slivered almonds, parsley (fresh is preferred, but dry will work as well), rubbed sage, salt, pepper, melted butter, chicken broth, and a beaten egg. Toss gently until well blended.Once everything is evenly mixed and coated, place in a sprayed 2 quart baking dish. Cover with foil and bake at 350°F 30 minutes. Uncover and bake an additional 10-15 minutes or until nicely browned. It will smell wonderful, and you'll want to dive right in! Enjoy!
