Pretzel Roll

Such a fun roll to serve with a meal or all by itself. Makes a great snack for after school.

Pretzel Roll

My kids come home from school like ravaging wolves. It doesn't matter if I pack them a hearty lunch, they seem to be starving by the time I see them after school. So the other day I decided to combat the after school grumbling, and have freshly baked goodies hot out of the oven waiting for them when they walk in the door. These Pretzel Rolls were a hit! They were thrilled!

Pretzel Roll

These little guys are super simple to make. You use Rhodes Bake-n-Serv rolls, but you don't have to wait for them to raise, so you don't have to spend all day working on an afternoon snack. Or you could even let your kids help to make these.

Ingredients:

Rhodes Dinner or Texas Rolls, 1/2 cup baking soda, Coarse saltPretzel Roll

Instructions:

Place rolls on a sprayed baking sheet (far enough apart so they don't touch) and cover with sprayed plastic wrap. Let the rolls thaw, but do not let them raise.

While rolls are rising, bring a large pot of water to a boil (3-4 quarts), add the baking Soda slowly and stir to dissolve completely. Remove wrap and place the thawed rolls in the boiling water, 3 at a time. Boil on each side for one minute.

Pretzel Roll Place them back on sprayed baking sheets. Sprinkle with coarse salt.

Pretzel Roll

Pretzel RollWe dipped them in a little butter, and they tasted just like a real, authentic soft pretzel. They would also be really great dipped in cheese sauce, topped with Parmesan cheese, or sprinkled with a little cinnamon and sugar.

And now my kids expect a hot treat every day when they get home from school. I have a feeling that's not going to happen, but at least for one day, I was the coolest mom on the block!

In you step by step description you wrote to sprinkle in "baking powder" instead of baking soda.
Just thought I'd let u know. Great recipe idea!

...oops, you also wrote baking powder in the final instruction paragraph. You have it right in the ingredients list. Just think some people will get very confused.
You must use baking SODA not baking powder. Thanks
