Chocolate and Fresh Strawberries! Make this show-stopping summer dessert for Fathers Day. He'll be the happiest dad on the block. Click here for the full article.
In preparation for Father’s Day I have been devising a dessert my husband would love. I began by contemplating my husband’s consistent sweet tooth. I am married to a man that can and does eat an entire bag of individually wrapped chocolates in one sitting; a man who’s only concerns on our trip back from visiting his family in Ireland was if the two gallon sized bags of chocolate’s in his luggage were going to make it back okay; and a man who has his own stash of chocolate cookies in the freezer. The only thing that he doesn’t like chocolate flavored is his ice cream. Every ice cream, frozen yogurt, or shake (which he constantly has) can only be one flavor Strawberry; and if a topping is included, it must be Strawberries. The only other thing that can make him even happier is a lot of whipped cream on top. This recipe is dedicated to my wonderful husband who loves his chocolates and strawberries. I have included a few ingredients to give it that Latin flavor just to remind him that he married a Latina. Happy Father’s Day and Enjoy!
6 Rhodes Dinner Rolls
1 Tbsp Butter
4 tsp. Dark Browm Sugar
3 Tbsp Sweetened Condensed Milk
2 Tbsp Evaporated Milk
1 cup Milk Chocolate Drops
1 basket Fresh Strawberries
1 tub Whipped Topping
Place your 6 Rhodes Dinner Rolls on sprayed wrap until they have defrosted. Once defrosted, kneed them together into a ball and place them on the sprayed wrap to rise.
Once your dough has risen or fluffed, roll it into a circle so as to cover your pizza tin.
Spray your pizza tin and place your rolled dough. Now pinch the edges so that you can have a small crust edge. Set aside.
Turn on your oven to 350 degrees F.
Take a small bowl and add your dark brown sugar. In a cup, heat your butter for 20 seconds in the microwave. Combine your sugar and butter in the small bowl.
With a baking brush, brush some of this butter-sugar mixture onto just the edges of your pizza.
Now take an extra small sauce pan and add the evaporated milk and sweetened condensed milk.
You want to heat it on medium high heat. Once warm, start adding the chocolate until it is all stirred in and melted.
Add the melted chocolate to your pizza making sure to spread it around evenly.
Place your pizza in the oven for about 15 minutes or until your crust is dark golden brown. When it comes out of the oven it should look like this.
Set aside your pizza and take your fresh strawberries. You will want to slice them so that you have disks. This is so that you can lay them flat around your entire pizza.
Now you can slice it up and add whipped cream as you like. I added plenty because I love it plenty.
I usually ask other people to taste my food but since this recipe is for my husband and no one besides him knows what he likes better than I do, I tasted this one myself. I give it a 9 out of 10 and I will tell you why. It tasted like I was eating an amazingly yummy version of chocolate covered strawberries. The thin dough only enhanced the flavor and gave it a wonderful texture. I am hooked and I know my husband will love it too. Enjoy this one with someone you love!
