I am a bread girl. Take me out to dinner, and I will grab for that basket of bread first. And I'll probably get so full on bread that I won't be hungry for my dinner. I'm often looking for new ways to make bread sides at home, and love it when I come across one that is not only delicious, but easy as well - I know it's going to be a keeper that will be made in my house often. While flipping through the pages of my copy of Home Baked Family Favorites, I came across this Italian Herb Bread, and I knew I had to make it. It is made with things that I always have on hand, so it's perfect to add to dinner any night of the week!
You start off with Rhodes dinner rolls, butter, parmesan cheese, garlic salt, parsley, oregano and basil. The original recipe also calls for fresh chives, but I had some dried chives on hand, so I substituted in about 1 teaspoon of those.
You start off by combining all of the rolls into one ball of dough. Roll the dough out on a counter that has been sprayed with non-stick cooking spray. You'll want it about 10x14.
Spray a 9x13-inch baking dish with cooking spray, and transfer the dough. Cover the top of the dish with plastic wrap, and let the dough sit for 30 minutes.
Remove the plastic wrap and use a sharp knife to score the top of the dough into 2-inch squares.
In a small bowl, combine the butter with the cheese, garlic salt and herbs. Brush the mixture gently over the dough. Cover the dish with plastic wrap again and let rise for another 30 minutes.
Preheat the oven to 350, and bake the bread for 10-15 minutes, or until golden brown on top. Serve and enjoy!!
