Hot Ham and Cheese Roll-Ups

A kid friendly recipe that will soon be a family favorite. These scrumptious hot ham and cheese roll-ups are perfect for breakfast, lunch, snacks or dinner.

As a child whenever we stayed at my grandparents our favorite thing to do was walk to the bakery on Sunday morning for hot ham and rolls. These Hot Ham and Cheese Roll-Ups take me back to those happy days.

A kid friendly recipe that will soon be a family favorite. These scrumptious hot ham and cheese roll-ups are perfect for breakfast, lunch, snacks or dinner.

They are easy to make and can be made in advance and then baked to serve as party snacks as well.

The kids can help roll out the dough, layer the ham and cheese and then roll into a log. Mom or dad can cut the rolls and make the glaze then the kids can arrange the rolls and pour over the glaze. Or if your kids don't like the glaze you can skip that part and perhaps add a little melted butter to the tops of the rolls.

The recipe could not be any easier. You simply roll the bread dough into a rectangle.

Layer the dough with ham and cheese.

Then roll up jelly roll style and cut into 9 pieces.

Place pieces into the prepared pan and let raise until double in size. Mom or dad can prepare the glaze  and then pour over the rolls and bake.

Wearing an oven mitten, remove rolls from oven and let cool.  Serve and enjoy!

Ham and Cheese Pinwheels

Ingredients

1 loaf of Rhodes Yeast Bread Dough, thawed but still cold

6 slices deli ham

6 slices of thin deli swiss cheese

Glaze

1/2 stick of butter

1 Tablespoons brown sugar

11/2 teaspoon worcestershire sauce

1/2 teaspoon dijon mustard

Directions

Preheat oven to 350. Prepare an 8 x 8 baking dish with non-stick spray and set aside.

Sprinkle a board or your counter with flour then roll out the dough into a large rectangle. Layer the ham on the dough and then layer on the cheese, leaving a little room at the edges.

Starting with the long side roll up the dough jelly roll style as tightly as you can and then pinch the edges to seal. Slice the roll into 1 inch slices, 9 total and place inside a prepared pan.

Cover the rolls with a piece of plastic sprayed with cooking spray and set aside to raise in a warm draft free place until the rolls are doubled in size.

While the rolls are raising place the butter, brown sugar, worschestire sauce and mustard in a pan and cook over medium heat until the butter is melted and the mixture is smooth.

When you are ready to bake the rolls, spread the rolls with the prepared sauce. Then bake for 20-25 minuted and the tops are golden brown. Cool slightly then cut and enjoy.
