This tasty sandwich is a fun way to use up those delicous Thanksgiving leftovers.
I love Thanksgiving, who doesn’t? Family, food, football…. But I might even like Thanksgiving leftovers even more. The heavy cooking is finished, dishes are done, things have quieted down a bit, pie for breakfast….PIE FOR BREAKFAST, turkey sandwiches…. Seriously, what’s not to love? Did I mention you can have pie for breakfast? Aside from pie, I love turkey sandwiches, and this hearty grilled sandwich is an extra fun twist.
I remember thinking my dad was crazy when he’d mix all the fixings together into one sandwich, but as years pass, the idea has grown on me. But I never ever thought of grilling my Thanksgiving sandwich, before Rhodes suggested it, brilliant! The toasted home baked taste of Rhodes bread truly takes this sandwich over the top! Delicious, simply delicious.
What’s your favorite way to use Thanksgiving leftovers? This sandwich will soon be at the top of your list. Just look at it – how can you resist? It’s easy too, in fact it’s so easy that I don’t have
many any step by step pictures for you. It didn’t even cross my mind until I sat down to write this post that I was missing them. It’s a sandwich, we’ve all made them. What sets this one apart is that you bake up a loaf of fresh bread and grill the sandwich to toasty perfection once you’ve put it all together.
Let’s look at how you make it. First, follow the direction on the back of your bag of Rhodes frozen bread dough to prepare your bread. It’s totally easy, you’ll set the dough out to thaw and rise and then bake it. Yep, that’s all there is to it. Then you’ll take that loaf of fresh bread and cut it into nice slices. Top one slice with cheese. Add some turkey, stuffing, cranberries, and another slice of cheese. Top that all with another slice of bread. Butter the outside of both slices of bread. Place it on a preheated griddle until the bread is golden brown and crispy, flip and repeat.
Then enjoy! Totally easy, right? I thought so!
Happy Holidays from Jasey's Crazy Daisy!
