This creamy sausage mushroom Stromboli combines some of my favorite pizza toppings and twists them into a delicious sandwich. I've made many different variations of Stromboli and this one is probably my favorite. It's creamy filling comes from my favorite stuffed mushrooms which is always a crowd pleaser! Come to think of it, this creamy sausage mushroom Stromboli is always a favorite too! It's really simple to make with only 4 ingredients. Let's get this party started!
First, you'll need to spray a baking sheet with non-stick cooking spray and thaw one loaf of frozen bread dough. I cover it loosely with a piece of plastic wrap that's been sprayed with cooking spray and let it sit out for a few hours. It will double in size like so.
When your dough is ready, you'll brown a little sausage.
Add some mushrooms.
And stir in some cream cheese. You'll want to keep stirring until the mixture is everything is mixed through and incorporated thoroughly.
Take the creamy mixture off the heat and set it aside. It's time to roll out your dough. You'll want to roll your dough into a pretty big rectangle like this. Mine's extra big this time - you don't have to go quite so big.
Now gently spread your sausage mixture over the dough.
Starting with the long end, roll it all up into a long loaf. Fold the ends over and press the seams to seal it all up!
Make a few slices across the top of the Stromboli to help vent the bread as it bakes. Slice it up and enjoy! It's sooooo good!

Creamy Sausage Mushroom Stromboli
1 loaf Rhodes frozen bread dough
16 oz. bulk sausage
8 oz. sliced mushrooms, chopped
8 oz. cream cheese
Butter - optional
Thaw dough on a baking sheet sprayed with cooking spray. Let raise according to directions on package. When it has doubled in size, brown sausage over medium high heat. Once sausage has started browning, add mushrooms, stirring occasionally. When mushrooms are soft and sausage is brown, drain. Turn heat to low and add cream cheese stirring until it has melted and coats everything evenly.
Roll dough into a large rectangle, over a floured surface. Spread with cream cheese sausage mixture. Starting with one of the long sides, roll into a long loaf. Fold ends over, press seams to seal, and place back on baking sheet. Bake at 375 for 20-25 minutes or just until it starts to brown. Open the end of a cube of butter and gently rub across the top of the Stromboli. Place back in over for just a few minutes just to finish browning. Remove from oven, cool slightly, and slice to sere. Enjoy!
