You most likely have all of the ingredients on hand to make this special treat. I did! In fact, I was able to finish my corn syrup off with it! Talk about a crowd pleaser. These babies will have everyone thinking you are a professional baker, when in reality Rhodes does all the hard work for you. No one needs to know that. Who says you can't take all the credit as if you slaved for hours in the kitchen over a hot stove? I won't tell if you don't ;)
Gather your ingredients:
1 Loaf Rhodes™ Bread Dough or 12 Rhodes™ Dinner Rolls, thawed to room temperature
butter or margarine
light corn syrup
Spray counter lightly with non-stick cooking spray. Or you can be a rebel like me and use flour instead ;). Roll loaf or combined dinner rolls into a 12x16 rectangle. Or whatever shape you can get it in before giving up.
Brush dough with melted butter.
Combine 1/4 cup brown sugar, 1/4 cup butter and corn syrup in a small saucepan and melt until sugar dissolves.
*Very important: melt all ingredients together and as soon as the mixture begins to "foam" remove from heat.It will be hot enough to continue melting off the stove.*
In my experience, I melted too long on the stove top and ended up with toffee. This here that you see is round two. Once it's melted perfectly, spread evenly over dough.
Combine chocolate chips, 1/3 cup brown sugar and pecans.
Doesn't that look so yummy?? Spread sugar mixture evenly over dough.
Roll up jelly roll style, starting with a 16-inch side.
With sharp serrated knife cut into 12 pieces. Place in a 9x13-inch sprayed pan. Cover with sprayed plastic wrap and let rise until double.
Remove wrap and bake at 350°F 15-20 minutes.
You will know they are ready when they are a golden brown.
Now, the recipe doesn't call for a frosting or an icing, but I just couldn't leave these guys hanging. I felt like they needed a little something extra. So I whipped up another batch of the yummy caramel filling that was used on the inside, and drizzled it on over.
Now THAT looks like the perfect finished product to me. Nom nom nom. Enjoy!
