These cinnamon spiced bread morsels are a hit with everyone who loves sweet rolls. Click here for the full article.

Apple Strudel Pull-Apart

Baking sweet things is my favorite baking project so you can imagine how excited I was to bake up this recipe.  Yeah!!  In fact I had the perfect crowd to try it out on.  I have daughter that is in college and once a week she invites a group of friends over to hang out and of course…EAT!  I knew that they would be thrilled to try this yummy recipe.

You will need:

22 Rhodes™ Dinner Rolls, thawed

1/2 cup butter or margarine, melted

1/2 cup brown sugar

1 teaspoon cinnamon

1 cup apple, chopped

icing, if desired

Getting Started:

Thaw rolls until soft (about 1.5 hours at room temperature). Cut the rolls in half. (I cut mine in fourths.  I wanted the pieces to be smaller because it helps to distribute the other ingredients more evenly and after it is risen and baked it makes the pieces easier to eat.)  Spray a 9x13-inch baking pan with non-stick spray and space the cut rolls evenly on the bottom of the pan.

Take the melted butter and drizzle over the rolls.

Mix cinnamon, brown sugar, and chopped apple and sprinkle on the top of the buttered rolls. As I mixed the apple with the cinnamon and brown sugar the moisture from the apple made the cinnamon and brown sugar cake on the sides of the apple pieces. I wondered if the cinnamon and brown sugar would spread out in the baking process and would there be enough flavor taste throughout.  Time will tell…

Cover with sprayed plastic wrap. Let rise until double in size.  (It’s looking good!)

Remove plastic wrap.  Bake at 350°F for 30 minutes.  Cover the top of the rolls with foil for the last 10 minutes if necessary to prevent over browning.  (I did this.)

Remove from pan and drizzle with icing if desired.  Woops!!  I missed the step in the instructions that read, “remove from pan.”  My guess is, that when you remove it from the pan, you invert it on cookie sheet so that the cinnamon and brown sugar “syrup” run through to the “top” (which would then be the bottom.)

That would be where the flavor taste gets spread throughout.  As you can see I drizzled my icing right over the top while it was still in the pan.  If you choose not to use the icing then tipping it over is probably just the ticket.  Serve warm is the next and best step in this fabulous recipe.  Which is just what a did!

I am happy to report that missing the “remove from pan” step did not matter.  There was plenty of yummy gooey sauce and don’t forget the baked apple pieces.  One of the young adults wanted more apple pieces so if apple is your favorite part, consider using two apples and doubling the cinnamon and brown sugar measurements.

This yummy Apple Strudel Pull-Apart was consumed in moments, with no leftover’s…WOO HOO!!  I love making mouths and tummies happy.  Until next time…and happy baking!!
