To make these Cuban Sandwich Sliders easy, use Rhodes Warm-N-Serv™ Soft Dinner Rolls!
I always keep Rhodes Warm-N-Serv™ Soft Dinner Rolls in my freezer! Not only do I bake them for us to eat for dinner or with a bowl of soup, but I also use them for making Cuban Sandwich Sliders! If you have never heard of a Cuban Sandwich, I’ll explain where I first learned about them.
On a family trip to Oaxaca, Mexico a few years ago we enjoyed some delicious food that was served at a quaint little sidewalk café on the Zocalo (the town square.) I ordered a “Cubano” (or Cuban Sandwich.) It was an unusual combination of smoked ham, sliced pork roast, swiss cheese, with yellow mustard and some dill pickle slices. Then it was grilled on a Panini Press.
To re-create those yummy sandwiches, I started making a Cuban Sandwich Slider using Rhodes Warm-N-Serv™ Soft Dinner Rolls! When made with the Warm-N-Serv Rolls, they are smaller than a regular Cuban Sandwich, so that’s why I call them “sliders.”
Start by baking the rolls according to the package directions. Bake for 12-15 minutes in a preheated 325°oven. Brush the hot rolls with melted butter.
Allow to cool slightly and cut the rolls in half. Built the sandwiches by spreading both halves of the Warm-N-Serv™ rolls with a thin layer of yellow mustard, followed by a thin slice of deli ham, a slice or two of sliced roasted pork (I always make these with our leftover pork roast.) Then add a slice of Swiss cheese and some dill pickle slices. (You can add as little or as much as you like of any of these ingredients.)
Put the top of the roll back on and grill on a Panini Press on the medium heat setting (or you can even use a contact grill!)
Grill until the cheese starts to melt and the Warm-N-Serv™ Roll has beautiful golden grill marks and a nice crunch. Serve hot.

6 Rhodes Warm-N-Serv® Soft Yeast Dinner Rolls
6 slices deli ham
6 slices Swiss cheese
6-12 slices thinly sliced pork roast (leftovers are great!)
dill pickle slices
Bake the Rhodes Warm-N-Serv Soft Dinner Rolls according to package directions. Brush with melted butter. Allow the rolls to cool to the touch.
Prepare the sliders by cutting the rolls in half and spreading both halves with yellow mustard. Then add a slice of ham, a slice or two of pork roast, a slice of Swiss cheese and some dill pickle slices. Put the top of the roll back on and grill the slider on a Panini Press (or you can use a contact grill.) The sandwich will be warmed through and the cheese will just start to melt. You'll know they're done when the Rhodes Warm-N-Serv Soft Dinner Rolls have beautiful golden grill marks and a nice crunch! Serve hot.
