Day 8: 12 Days of Rhodes, Christmas Fun "Game Night"
I don't know about you, but I absolutely LOVE to play board games! I've loved to play them for as long as I can remember. When I was younger I remember games of Monopoly lasting hours upon hours on end and I loved every minute of it (especially if I was winning). Now that I'm older, I enjoy game nights with family, friends, and even co-workers. I've got my favorites (as I'm sure everyone does) and some are even party games rather than board games. There's just something about a group of people getting together spending quality time with one another sharing loads of laughter and making wonderful memories. For our holiday game night we even put on a Christmas movie. You've seen White Christmas haven't you? It's a holiday classic. If you haven't seen it, add it to the list this season. But what makes a game night even better? THE FOOD! I've put together a sampling of some really great snack ideas for your next holiday game night.
What makes the perfect game night snack is something that's quick and easy, portable, but most of all TASTY!? These Salty Pretzel Bites paired with warm queso dip will be the hit for sure. Everyone will love dunking their bite-sized salty snack into the warm cheesy bowl of comfort! The other great thing about the recipe for the pretzel bites is that you can easily make a whole bunch of them all at once using the frozen rolls or even the frozen loaf.
But if you want something that's a little more filling but not too heavy, then these mini BBQ Pulled Pork & Cole Slaw Sliders are just the ticket. This version is so delicious and super simple. All you need for the filling is a package of pre-made meat found near your grocers deli and some ready-made cole slaw and you've got your self the perfect little snacker. Because they are smaller than a sandwich it's the perfect game night snack.
One of my favorite game night snacks will always and forever be a cheese ball! What better way for presentation to showcase a cheese ball than in a bread bowl? I thought it was pretty clever and a great way to contain the cheese all in one place. Plus you get the bonus of having bread AND cheese. Two of my absolute favorites (which is one of the reasons I'm madly in love with Rhodes. I love bread). I just bought a ready-made cheese ball from my grocery store deli area to eliminate the hassle of making my own.
For my game night, I chose to have two different cheese balls. So I made two bread bowls. You can also fill a bread bowl with ranch dip and have veggies with it too. That would be really fun! These bread bowls are made with two regular-sized Rhodes frozen rolls to make a smaller version of a bread bowl. If you'd like a larger one to feed more of a crowd use an extra roll.
Whether you are getting together with your friends or family this holiday season, take a little time out to relax and enjoy the holiday. There's always so much hustle and bustle that the season often whisks right past us without a moment to enjoy it. I plan to cozy up under a pile of blankets, pull out my favorite movies and sip on a festive drink of some kind to unwind and just enjoy Christmastime. I hope you are able to do the same!
