Apple Sandwich

Whitney Fri, Oct 05 2012

Bring a little fun to your sandwich with this yummy apple sandwich: apple-shaped bread, and apples on it, too! Don't let the apples throw you. A little sweetness on a savory sandwich is delicious, plus the crunch brings a whole new texture.

Here's what you'll need:

Rhodes Texas™ or Dinner Rolls, thawed but still cold
mayonnaise
lettuce
deli ham or turkey
sharp cheddar cheese slices (any other sliced cheese will work too: havarti and pepper jack are good!)
thinly sliced apples

Start with 2 Texas rolls or 3 dinner rolls, thawed.

1

Combine and flatten into an apple shape. With a knife, cut one triangle out of the top and 2 smaller triangles out of the bottom.

1

Shape cut out triangles into a stem and a leaf. Place stem and leaf at the top of the apple.

1

Place apple on a sprayed baking sheet. Cover with sprayed plastic wrap and allow to rise 30-45 minutes.

1

Bake at 350° F for 15 to 20 minutes or until golden brown.

1

Allow to cool then slice carefully.

1

Fill with mayonnaise, lettuce, turkey, cheese, and apple slices. I made mine with pepper jack cheese and gala apples. Serve and enjoy!
